What did you accomplish artistically in ’07? Did you have a plan?
What will you accomplish in ’08? Have a plan for it?
God has a plan for you, your life and your creative ability. It’s the reason why He gave you that ability in the first place, to accomplish something.

Little AkilahThe cool thing about it is that God does not want you to be in a guessing game with Him. On the contrary, He wants to reveal to you the steps to take to fulfill that artistic plan.

God tells us from the Bible:

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” Psalm 32:8

This teaches that the Holy Spirit will be your practical guide, and you can believe this even for the use of your artistic talents. By being of one mind with God, you walk out the plan from His perspective rather than from your limited point of view.

So where does an artist start? Let’s start with the facts about the plan itself:

  • A plan is a roadmap, predetermined for intentional progress.
  • Success is achieved by a plan. Measuring the progress equates to measuring success.
  • Plans are flexible, but they MUST be present.

Where to start?
Starting with clearly identifying the goals is what helps to “spell out” the plan of action.

God will reveal to you what He wants to accomplish through you using your creative gift. This is the “vision”, or what God sees as the end result. The bible says:

“And the LORD answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.’ “ Habakkuk 2:2

“Revelation” is when you see the same goal or vision that God sees for your life and your creative ability. You can recognize this when you get that idea that you just can’t let go, or the concept that you have so much passion for. Many times it is that creative job or task that is fulfilling the need of someone else. This is part of where God needs your work.

Those things give clarity to the goal. What is God calling you to do with your creative gift?
Once the goal (or vision) is clearly identified, write the practical steps that lead to making it happen.
